Professional installation and commissioning required: this generates chlorine dioxide on site, a reactive gas that requires proper ventilation, safety systems and qualified handling. Installation, commissioning and ongoing servicing should only be carried out by a suitably trained technician. Worth confirming applicable NZ hazardous substance handling and health & safety requirements before ordering.
Gas detector sold separately: the unit includes an input for a chlorine dioxide gas sensor, but the sensor/detector itself is ordered separately.
Configuration confirmed at order: injection pump flow rate (3 or 5 L/h, see below) is specified when stock is ordered.
Chlorine dioxide is a highly effective water disinfectant against all types of pathogens, and also destroys biofilms, removing the source of nourishment for microorganisms and preventing regrowth. Unlike chlorine, its disinfectant capacity doesn't depend on water pH. It's used in water purification, disinfection of sanitary water systems, and water treatment for the food industry and other processes.
Chlorine dioxide's main drawback is its instability. It's a highly reactive gas that must be produced on site rather than stored or transported. The CDG generator is designed to produce chlorine dioxide in aqueous solution and store it in a tank for controlled, subsequent dosing. This is industrial-grade water treatment equipment, better suited to larger facilities than typical residential pools.
